1. Policy statement

Ignis Circular Ltd exists to manage waste responsibly and to advance a circular economy. We are committed to preventing pollution, minimising the environmental impact of our operations, and maximising the recovery of value from the materials we handle. Protecting the environment is central to everything we do.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all activities at our Canford Recycling Centre site and to all employees, contractors and visitors. It is supported by our environmental management system, aligned with ISO 14001.

3. Our commitments

We will:

  • Comply with all relevant environmental legislation, our Environmental Permit conditions and other requirements.
  • Prevent pollution to air, land and water arising from our operations.
  • Prioritise reuse, recycling and recovery over disposal, and work to eliminate the use of landfill.
  • Manage dust, noise, odour, litter and other potential nuisances responsibly.
  • Use energy, water and other resources efficiently and reduce our carbon footprint.
  • Only use licensed, reputable downstream outlets for recovered materials.
  • Communicate openly with our regulators, neighbours and community.

4. The waste hierarchy

We apply the waste hierarchy in every operational decision — prevention first, then reuse, recycling, other recovery, and finally disposal only as a genuine last resort.

5. Legal compliance

We operate under an Environment Agency Permit (No. EPR/FP3393SB) and maintain full duty-of-care documentation for all waste movements. We monitor changes in legislation and update our procedures accordingly.

6. Continual improvement

We set environmental objectives and targets, monitor our performance against them, and review this policy regularly to drive continual improvement in our environmental performance.

7. Responsibility

Overall responsibility for this policy rests with the Director. Day-to-day environmental performance is the responsibility of the Operations Director, supported by technically competent management. Every member of staff has a duty to work in line with this policy.
